Set of 5 Square Drape Forms

This set of 5 Square Pottery Drape Forms is  perfect for creating a dinner service or statement plates.  It includes forms that you could use to create a dinner plate, side / starter plate, saucer, and mini dish. 

Manufactured from 18 mm thick economy MDF.  Select from a 45 degree angle chamfered edge finish, or a straight 90 degree edge with rounded base. 

This set includes 5 x Drape Forms in the following sizes;

11 Inches (279mm)
9.5 Inches (241mm)
8 Inches (203mm)
6.5 Inches (165mm)
5 Inches (127mm)

The 1.5 inch graduation in sizes  means that your dishes can be stacked or nested.

How to use these drape forms

No pottery wheel is required, you can use these drape forms on any work station / table / bench.

Once you have formed your dish, set it aside to dry (with the drape form still in-situ). Ensure that you elevate it off of your workbench so that damp clay does not stick to your bench.  (You can use our 'Drape Form Rising Stars' for this).  

Leave it until the clay has partially dried.  The time required for your plate to dry will vary according to the moisture of the clay, ambient temperature and humidity. We recommend that you check your dish every hour or so. You will know when it is ready to be removed because it will simply release from the form when you carefully turn the form upside down.

Once the dish releases, finish any neatening up that you may like to do and then leave it to dry until ready for bisque firing.  

Some Top tips from our customers to avoid craking or warping of clay - Make sure you compress the clay really well.  Roll it 1/4 inch thick (you can use our rolling pin guides to help get an even roll).  Don't let your dish dry too quickly. Do not leave the clay on the form to completely dry,, remove the form when your dish is in a semi-dry state.

How to look after me

These forms are manufactured from our economy MDF material.
Please do not submerge in water as this can cause swelling and warping.
To clean just wipe with a damp sponge to remove any clay.
Do not use metal scourers or screwdrivers on these forms as this can cause damage to your form.
